Academic requirements
First-year students must-
Have a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A=4.00) from a secondary school. Some ASU programs may have higher admission or English proficiency requirements and may consider a minimum ACT or SAT score.
Must have three years of high school coursework. (If you are currently in high school, ASU needs to see 911 grade coursework. If you have completed high school, ASU needs to see 10-12 grade coursework.)
Must have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
IELTS - minimum score 6.0
TOEFL iBT - minimum score is 61.

Prepare to educate learners in grades K-8. Coursework paired with internships and residencies will allow you to obtain teacher certification after graduation and start a career in a high-demand specialty in education. The BAE program in elementary education with a concentration in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, collectively referred to as STEM, prepares students for certification in grades K-8 in the state of Arizona. This program includes coursework designed for students looking to advance their skills in STEM disciplines and wishing to learn techniques to effectively engage learners.<br><br>The program equips prospective educators with the specialized STEM knowledge they need to solve challenging problems and apply critical thinking skills. The elementary education STEM program offers students a firm grounding in the language, current research and best practices in STEM education.<br><br>Extensive professional experiences are built into this program to prepare students to enter the teaching profession after graduation. Graduates will complete internships prior to a full-time teaching residency. Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College has developed a distinctive approach to teacher-preparation, which includes student participation in internships and residencies while receiving guidance and support from faculty members and highly qualified certified teachers. Professional experiences are designed to prepare graduates to work with mutually supportive colleagues to address the academic and social-emotional needs of learners.<br>Graduates earn an institutional recommendation from ASU for Arizona teacher certification in Elementary Education, K-8, and an endorsement in Structured English Immersion, preK-12, from the Arizona Department of Education. In order to teach in an Arizona public school, graduates must pass the appropriate Arizona educator exams: National Evaluation Series or Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments.
