国际学生入学条件
Undergraduate applicants remain in University College pending acceptance into a Teacher Education Program. We encourage you to make an appointment with the appropriate advisor as you plan your program.
Admission to the School of Education is competitive. Some qualified applicants may be denied admission due to a limited number of positions available in a teacher preparation program. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee admission.
To be eligible for admission, applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and a minimum of 24 credits, as well as additional exceptional academic qualifications.
Applicants with a cumulative GPA of 2.5-2.74 may be eligible for Conditional Acceptance for GPA to the School of Education based on the following conditions:
Secondary Education applicants: A minimum GPA of 2.5 in your content major (English, Math, etc.)
Music Education applicants: A minimum GPA of 2.5 in Music
TOEFL iBT - An overall score of 80 or above
Reading: 20, Writing: 22, Listening: 17, Speaking: 17 (the suggested minimum speaking score for international teaching assistants is 23).
Paper-based TOEFL Test (PBT): 550
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Required minimum score of 6.5. IELTS scores must be sent directly to URI.

Designed for teachers who have already been certified in elementary or secondary education as part of their undergraduate degree, and want to obtain a master's degree with a declared specialization. The School of Education offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs, in addition to certification extension programs. All URI teacher education programs are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE).
