Order an unofficial transcript for each institution you have attended and taken over 12 units. Then electronically upload the transcript created by your university. If applicable, remove your social security number by crossing or blacking out numbers before uploading. Repeat this step as needed until all transcripts are uploaded.
Request at least 3 Letters of Recommendation. Letters must arrive electronically via your online application. You will be asked to supply the name, email address, and current institution/company of each recommender.
Upload your Statement of Purpose, Personal Contributions/Achievements, and Resume/CV. There are no minimum or maximum length requirements for these documents, but we recommend each be 1-2 pages.
Upload a Writing Sample - Based on your research experience (research on the job, a research project, or class paper).
completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at an institution whose primary language of instruction is English. The minimum score for consideration is 550 when taking the paper-based TOEFL, or 80 when taking the internet-based test, some departments require a higher score. Applicants must make arrangements to take the TOEFL directly with ETS (www.ets.org). Scores should be reported to UCSB using institution code 4835. TOEFL scores must be no more than two years old at the time of application submission. UCSB also considers a minimal score of 7 on the IELTS as an alternative to the TOEFL. IELTS scores must be no more than two years old at the time of application submission

The Department of Education in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education (GGSE) prepares researchers, scholar practitioners, teacher educators, and educational leaders for positions in universities, school districts, community agencies, and the private sector. We have seven different research focus areas: Culture and Development, Language and Literacy, Learning, Culture and Technology Studies, Policy, Leadership and Research Methods, Science and Mathematics Education, Special Education, Disability and Risk Studies, and Teacher Education and Professional Development.
