The Department of Languages and Linguistics offers a Master of Arts in Spanish, which may be completed through our program on the main campus or completely online. Students are asked to indicate an area of interest in either linguistics or literature. The degree requires a total of 36 credit hours. It is recommended that students focus at least 27 credit hours of that total in their selected area of interest. Main campus students may select either a thesis or a non-thesis option. Students selecting to follow the thesis option, may count up to 6 credit hours towards their degree total. Online students are limited to the non-thesis option only at this time.<br><br>Students must complete all University degree requirements, which include: General Education requirements, Viewing a Wider World requirements, and elective credits to total at least 120 credits with 48 credits in courses numbered 300 or above. Developmental coursework will not count towards the degree requirements and/or elective credits, but may be needed in order to take the necessary English and Mathematics coursework
