The M.A. in Spanish language, literature and culture is designed to meet a variety of student goals. The program provides students with thorough preparation for further study at the doctoral level. It also meets the needs of students for whom the master's degree is a terminal degree and who wish to pursue job opportunities in areas where critical thinking, leadership qualities, and clear, persuasive communication are valued, especially when a superior knowledge of Spanish language and culture is required.<br>The Master's Degree Program in Spanish Language, Literature and Culture provides students with a foundation in major areas of linguistic, literary and cultural inquiry and investigation of the Spanish-speaking worlds at the same time that it offers each student the opportunity to create a program to best suit his/her interests and future goals. By the end of their first semester in the program, students will design a plan of study in consultation with the Graduate Student Advisor. Students with great interest in Linguistics will be advised to take at least four courses in Linguistics during the Spanish MA program.
