The study of another language immerses students in an academic experience that emphasizes linguistic fluency and multicultural competence, highly prized skills that open doors to a wide range of potential careers in today's competitive global economy. Students interested in future careers with international implications should consider majoring in one of two modern languages, French or Spanish. Students can also minor in French, Italian, and Spanish. A mix of academics, community service, and international travel allows students to meet interesting people and engage with other cultures while gaining a fresh perspective. Working with modern languages faculty, students can design their own study abroad experience or take part in international trips to places like China, France, Italy, Mexico, and Spain.
