The history major challenges the intellect, inspires the imagination, and stimulates analytical thinking. Historical knowledge provides a valuable background for students considering careers in law, journalism, library and museum work, education, business, and local, state, national, and international public service. Students of history contribute anywhere that a knowledge of domestic and foreign affairs is required, and, of course, to the profession of historical research and teaching.<br><br>Undergraduate Academic Programs<br>The faculty of history offer courses leading to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in history.<br><br>Program Learning Outcomes<br>Students who complete the undergraduate program in history will:<br>Historical Comprehension<br>a. Analyze the literal and contextual significance of a historical passage. b. Identify the central questions in historical narratives.<br>c. Articulate historical perspectives. Historical Analysis and Interpretation<br>a. Compare and contrast opposed and/or multiple sets of ideas, interpretations, values, personalities, behaviors and/or institutions.<br>b. Assess competing historical narratives. c. Hypothesize the impacts and significance of past events.<br>Historical Research Capabilities<br>a. Articulate historical questions. b. Acquire and evaluate historical data. c. Compose a sound historical interpretation and argument.
