The art department is a diverse, open, and interesting community of learners. Art classes such as painting and drawing offer ways for you to explore creativity with an emphasis on personal expression. Youll be encouraged to experiment with problems of design. Art history classes examine the world of visual culture, as you actively study and reflect upon the variety of artistic forms people have produced.<br>The Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer is intended for students who plan to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Art History at a CSU campus. The Art History degree prepares students planning to transfer into the Art History majors, or a similar major, with an understanding of<br>the study of art. The program is an inquiry of the diverse creativity throughout the world. Successful completion of the program requirements affords students specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system such as admission to a CSU with junior status, priority admission to their local CSU campus and to a program or major in art history or similar major<br>Students interested in the AA for transfer degree in Art<br>History should consult with the Art Program Chair and a<br>Counselor.<br>Students are required to:<br>Complete 60 semester CSU-transferable units.<br>Complete the California State University-General Education-Breadth pattern (CSU GE-Breadth), or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) pattern.<br> Complete a minimum of 18 semester units in the major Obtain of a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.<br>Earn a grade of C or higher in all courses required for the major. A P (Pass) grade is also an acceptable grade for courses in major if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis.<br>Career Opportunities<br>Students who study art history will explore the relationship between art and architecture,artists and aesthetics,and the cultural and social context in which they were made.<br>Studying Art opens paths towards advanced studies to pursue careers which include: Art Educators, Art Historians, Art Administrators, Artists, Art Critics, and Museum Curators.
