Required Degree - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or have proof of equivalent training at a foreign institution.
Minimum GPA - 3.2 or better (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 60 hours of undergraduate education or a 3.2 in graduate work, and a grade point average of 3.2 or better in all History courses taken.
Coursework - 18 upper-division semester credit hours in history or courses with demonstrably significant historical content, or demonstration of equivalent experience.
Transcripts - Required from all institutions attended, international transcripts must be recorded/translated to English
Credential Evaluation - Required if you have earned university-level credit from foreign institutions. Submit an evaluation of your transcripts from Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) directly from the graduate admission application platform
English Language Proficiency - 550 TOEFL Paper / 79 TOEFL Internet / 6.5 IELTS
Purpose Statement - Required
Letters of Recommendation - 2 academic or professional reference(s) demonstrating your attributes for successful completion of this program (you will request these through the Graduate Admissions Application, let your recommenders know of your deadline to ensure submissions are on time)

History provides invaluable insight into the past. UTSA's Master of Arts in History offers students the opportunity to pursue the advanced study of history. The program is designed to develop historical skills and to expand students understanding of the conceptualization and practice of history.<br>The MA in History provides students with advanced analytical, writing, and research skills that graduates can employ in an array of careers. Focusing in either U.S. or world history, graduate students work with UTSA's accomplished faculty to learn the methods of professional historians, to read and critically assess historical scholarship from multiple subfields, and to undertake original research projects. Our program prepares students for successful careers in public history, education, and government, among other fields, and for further study at the doctoral level.
