Admission eligibility is based on receipt of a baccalaureate degree equivalent to a United States four-year bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized as an institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education in the relevant country or be regionally accredited within the U.S. prior to matriculating into a graduate program.
To be considered for regular admission, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or the equivalent (on the U.S. 4.0 scale). Applicants who have earned 9 or more letter-graded graduate credits must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent, this graduate GPA supersedes the undergraduate GPA.
IELTS - 6.5 overall score with minimum sub-scores of 6.5 in reading and writing
TOEFL iBT - minimum overall score of 80 with minimum subscores of 18 in reading and writing

The Department of History offers a Master of Arts degree program designed to offer systemic training in the content, methods, and interpretation of history in a variety of specialized fields.<br><br>Depending upon their interests and preparation, students complete one of two required tracks (Thesis or Examination). In most cases, a student's program of study will relate to a field represented by one of our permanent tenure-line faculty members whose specialties are listed on the Department's website. In addition to these specialized areas of study, the Department also offers curricular concentrations in Public and World History.<br><br>WHY PSU <br>The PSU Department of History emphasizes the mastery of advanced knowledge in a variety of specific fields of history. Students develop research skills in data management, analysis, and interpretation. They learn to ask questions, document processes, and communicate clear and persuasive arguments. The program also emphasizes working in diverse environments and building a culturally competent, inclusive and empathetic worldview. The Department partners with several local institutions, including the Oregon Historical Society, to offer internships and specified training opportunities. The Department's World History concentration allows for the exploration of thematic interests across time and space.
