The following specific courses (or their equivalencies) with the specified minimum grades are required for admission into the Bachelor of Arts program:
Majors: Anthropology, English, History and Sociology
English Language Arts 30-1 - 60%
Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2 or a 30-level language
Major: Psychology
English Language Arts 30-1 - 60%

Major: Policy Studies

High school: High School applicants must present five Grade 12 level courses for admission. Included in these five courses, applicants must present the required subjects for their intended program of choice. The specific courses required for your program count towards your Group A courses. The additional subject(s) which may be presented for admission include the following courses from Group A, B, or C.
International Baccalaureate Accepted- International Baccalaureate Accepted- Applicants who successfully complete International Baccalaureate (IB) courses with a minimum grade of '5' may use applicable IB courses for the purpose of admission and/or transfer credit.
IELTS (International English Language Test [Academic]) - 6.5 (Minimum 5.5 on each band)
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 86 (Minimum 20 in each of four sections)

The History major in the Bachelor of Arts four-year program is designed to provide students with a broad base of knowledge in history. Students will also have the opportunity to study a wide variety of topics such as Film and History, Indigenous History, and Public History. Students will develop an understanding of the methods of historical research and analysis, and historical reasoning that distinguish History as a branch of knowledge in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Beyond the intrinsic value of historical study, a BA in History prepares students for graduate studies in History and/or careers in areas such as teaching, law, archival studies, international affairs, journalism, and public administration.<br><br>Mount Royal's BA in History aims to provide students with the following competencies:<br><br>foundational knowledge in history,<br>the ability to locate, read and understand primary and secondary historical sources,<br>an understanding of historical reasoning and analysis,<br>a critical understanding of the nature and diversity of past political, economic, social and cultural institutions,<br>an awareness of the importance of historical context and its relevance to understanding the contemporary world,<br>the ability to formulate and present, both orally and in writing, cogent interpretations of the past.
