The collaborative PhD with a specialization in Political Economy is especially designed for Carleton University doctoral students in participating programs in the Faculties of Arts and Social Science and Public Affairs who wish to enrich their training in a particular discipline or area of study by developing a political economy approach through interdisciplinary dialogue. Our innovative PhD History program combines traditional academic strengths in historical theory, historiography and primary research. Award-winning faculty with national and international reputations ensure excellence in training and supervision of students. Our faculty supervises dissertations in the specialized fields listed below. The PhD program collaborates with the Institute of Political Economy in offering interested students a collaborative PhD with a specialization in Political Economy. The Department of History offers a rich environment and unparalleled resources for doctoral students. The National Capital Region provides ready access to numerous national museums, federal departments, cultural institutions, and Library and Archives Canada. The strengths of the doctoral programme are in Canadian history, the history of Women, Gender, and Sexuality, European history, and the history of Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
