这是一门渐进式课程，旨在培养未来的教师，使其准备进入基础教育教学行业。本课程的主要特点是为职前师范教育学生提供专业实践经验的范围和数量，以确保他们可以在理论与实践之间建立必要的联系，同时在真实的教学环境中建立专业和通用的就业技能。ECU与650余所学校之间的合作关系使职前教师教育的学生可以与来自不同经济，社会，种族和教育背景的儿童一起在各种环境中获得经验，包括公立，私立，城市或边远学校。
