This degree is for students who want to work as generalist primary teachers in schools, teaching children from reception to year seven. All students studying this degree will also be required to complete criminal history screening through the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion prior to being accepted for work placements. The clearance is valid for three years and can take up to eight weeks to be processed. If police clearance is not obtained, you will be unable to complete compulsory field placements, and will therefore be unable to graduate from this degree. All Education students who are completing any in-school or site observations, activities or professional experience placements must also undertake mandatory training in responding to abuse and neglect prior to beginning placements. All undergraduate students who are undertaking professional experience placements in South Australian government and non-government schools and preschools must provide documented evidence (i.e. a certificate) that demonstrates they have completed the required training.
