Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities) on the advice of the Dean, College of Education, who must be satisfied that, in accordance with Section 224 of the Education and Training Act 2020, Section 255(5) (a) and (b), the applicant satisfies the minimum requirements for admission to an initial teacher education programme as specified by the relevant professional body.
Every applicant must have:
a degree (at Level 7 or above on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework) with an average grade of at least B in the final year major subject requirements for a bachelor's degree (requiring papers worth at least 360 points) or in the course components for a postgraduate qualification, or,
alternative qualifications or experience acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities).
IELTS- overall score of 7.0 with minimum Listening - 7.0, Reading - 7.0, Writing - 7.0, Speaking - 7.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test (IBT) - overall score 98 with minimum (Listening - 24, Reading - 24, Writing - 27, Speaking - 23).

The Master of Teaching and Learning (MTchgLn) endorsed in either Early Childhood, Primary or Secondary Education, is an intensive, research-informed programme of postgraduate study, usually completed in one calendar year of full-time study, or its equivalent in part-time study.Top graduates from any discipline will be considered for this prestigious qualification. Student teachers will engage in an inquiry-based approach and intensive and extensive practice, working in partnership with early childhood centres, kindergartens, or schools, and the University, which will lead to enhanced practitioner skills at individual, group and whole-class level.In addition to meeting the requirements for teacher registration and provisional certification in New Zealand, graduates of this programme will be enabled to become teacher researchers as they move into the profession of teaching.
