The Department of Mathematics at Western Illinois University is committed to fostering a learning community rich in faculty-student interaction, collaboration on research, and promoting among our students an appreciation of mathematics. The Department's graduate program offers a Master of Science and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate. The graduate program prepares students for regional and nationwide in-demand professions. The masters program in the Department of Mathematics provides an alternative to the traditional programs by preparing students who would pursue a career in business, industry, or government, as well as to train mathematicians who would pursue further study towards a doctoral degree. The program offers a sufficiently flexible course structure, built on core courses and a wide range of specialized focus area courses.
