The Collaborative Teacher program leads to eligibility for certification in Special Education at either the elementary or secondary level. The programs focus on teaching ALL students with disabilities in ALL types of educational settings. Student will spend significant periods of time in K-12 grade setting working hands-on with students with disabilities. School experiences will include resource and special class placements as well as inclusion placements. Special education teachers are in high demand and sought out by all local school districts. This program is unique in that it prepares students to be general and special educators in elementary school settings. The program combines practical coursework with extensive field-based experiences. Students completing this program receive a B.S. degree and are eligible for Alabama Elementary Education and Collaborative Teacher (K-6) teacher certifications at the B level.
