Submit Two Letters of Recommendation to the Graduate School. Official Transcripts be sent from all of the Applicant's Undergraduate and Graduate Institutions directly to the Graduate School. An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOELF ibt. Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.00 system or a 3.20 GPA with 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution.

The Master of Science in Education in Counseling provides preparation in the theory, techniques, and information needed by the professional counselor. The academic requirements as set forth by the Illinois State Board of Education and the National Board for Certified Counselors are fully met by graduates of this program. This program is nationally accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP). The M.S.Ed. in counseling is a nationally accredited (CACREP) program, requiring a minimum of 60 semester hours, that provides preparation in the theory, techniques, and information needed by the professional counselor. The academic requirements as set forth by the Illinois State Board of Education and the National Board for Certified Counselors are fully met by graduates of this program. Through individualized planning, a program may be designed to focus on one of the following areas of professional counselor preparation: school counseling and clinical mental health counseling.
