Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate course work taken at any accredited college or University attended indicating the completion of requirements that are equal or equivalent to a master's degree accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) (Foreign College credits/transcripts require an official foreign evaluation. Please click here). TAMU-CC transcript is not required.
Official GRE scores (Within five years of the date of application)
Resume documenting work experience.
Essay (Approximately 2 pages which includes educational and professional goals and the reason for applying to the program).
Three letters of recommendation through the Counselor Education Reference Form.
Official TOEFL Scores (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - Minimum paper-based score of 550 or the equivalent internet-based score of 79-80 OR
Official IELTS Scores (International English Language Testing System) - Minimum score requirement: 6.5

The TAMUCC Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology is a recipient of the Dr. Robert Frank Outstanding Counselor Education Program Award by the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision. The Ph.D. in Counselor Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is at the forefront in meeting current needs in training counselor educators. The mission of the doctoral program is to add depth and breadth in the preparation of counselor educators and counselors for leadership positions, regionally and nationally. Graduates will meet the well-documented demand for counselor education professors, as this program emphasizes research, teaching, and supervision. Graduates of this program are employed as faculty at universities throughout the US. The doctoral comprehensive examination, coursework using evaluation rubrics, individual development plans, and annual evaluations help assure that graduates meet knowledge-based requirements and satisfy student learning outcomes.
