All graduate program applicants at the University of Alberta apply through the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) application portal. Applications are subject to standard requirements for all graduate applicants as determined by GPS and outlined in the official academic calendar. A University of Alberta baccalaureate degree or an equivalent qualification from another recognized academic institution
A minimum Admission Grade Point Average (AGPA) of 3.0 on a 4-point scale, or an equivalent standing, calculated on the last 60 of graded coursework completed at the time of application, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework.
Proof of English language proficiency
TOEFL iBT, in-person or special at-home edition - Total score of 90 with a score of at least 21 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based) or equivalent. IELTS - 6.5, with at least 6.0 on each test band. Canadian Academic English Language Assessment - Overall 70 with at least 60 on each subtest.

Print (opens a new window)<br>Help (opens a new window)<br>Master of Arts Master of Library and Information Studies (Digital Humanities)<br>The Digital Humanities Program and the School of Library and Information Studies offer an inter-faculty combined MA in Digital HumanitiesMLIS that students can complete within three years. Students pursuing the joint degrees must take 12 units in required Digital Humanities courses (DH 500, DH 510, DH 520, and DH 530) and 6 units in Digital Humanities options. They must also take 18 units in required Library and Information Studies courses (LIS 501, LIS 502, LIS 503, LIS 504, and LIS 505 and LIS 597) and 9 units in LIS options. Students are strongly encouraged to take the required Digital Humanities courses during their first year. Students must also complete a thesis. The student’s thesis committee shall normally include faculty members from both programs.<br><br>Students wishing to apply for the inter-faculty combined degrees need only to fill out one online application form by selecting “MAMLIS” as the program. The application will be directed to the Digital Humanities portal and then forwarded to the School of Library and Information Studies if the applicant is accepted into the Digital Humanities program first. Students must satisfy the entrance requirements for both programs. Administrators of the two programs will consult regarding admission to the combined degrees.
