College Eligibility
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants with an OSSD showing senior English and/or Mathematics courses at the Basic Level, or with Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine their eligibility for admission, OR
Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate, OR
General Educational Development (GED) certificate, OR
Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without a high school diploma at the start of the program). Eligibility may be determined by academic achievement testing for which a fee of $50 (subject to change) will be charged.
Program Eligibility
All applicants must complete a language proficiency test through the Algonquin College Test Centre, and will be required to pay a fee.
Applicants who have previously obtained scores on standardized tests (IELTS,TOEFL) may not be required to take the placement test, please forward your test score to eap_international@algonquincollege.com.
Applicants who have successfully completed the Algonquin College Pre-EAP program with a minimum B- in every course are not required to take the placement test.
IELTS - Overall 6.0 (no band lower than 5.5), TOEFL IBT - Total 80 (no score below 20)

The General Arts and Science - English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Ontario College Certificate program is an academically-oriented English as a Second Language (ESL) Program designed for International and Domestic students whose first language is not English.<br><br>Improve your academic English language skills for college and job success in a dynamic multicultural setting. Upon successful completion of the program, you obtain an Ontario College Certificate, which provides a pathway into post-secondary studies by satisfying the language requirements for entry into most programs offered at Algonquin College.<br><br>The EAP Placement Test determines your starting point in the program, ranging from low-intermediate to low-advanced language skills. As you move through the program, you actively participate in a variety of large and small group activities that provide engaging opportunities to practice the four language skills of:<br><br> reading<br> writing<br> listening<br> speaking <br><br>Class sizes allow for ample feedback from your instructors on all in-class and online assignments. Additional features include regular visits to our well-equipped language lab and elective courses that provide opportunities to develop areas of personal interest.
