Delivered over two years, you'll follow a series economic, legal, technical design and management modules, exploring the relationship between a building and its internal and external environment. A gateway to professional status, our accelerated BSc (Hons) Building Surveying course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), so you'll be educated to the highest industry standards.The accelerated route includes the same content as our standard undergraduate honours degree, but it is delivered across three trimesters rather than two semesters. This more intense mode of study means that you can complete your degree in a shorter period of time, so you're ready to progress more quickly into work or further study.Build knowledge and skills to describe, explain, evaluate, and apply building construction techniques.Learn to identify and use appropriate strategies and technologies applicable to building surveying practice.Gain the ability to identify symptoms and diagnose defects found in a diverse range of building types.<br><br>Building Surveying Accelerated is delivered over two years via a programme of practice-focused modules. It provides the ideal balance of academic study with the application of professional skills and competencies. Year one will introduce you to the building surveying process and practical industry knowledge using a range of built environment modules. These include an overview of the regulatory framework, the principles of building surveying, administration and procurement. You will also complete CAD design studio activities and a multi-disciplinary project.Year two advances your understanding of managing information and develops your surveying skills. You'll get involved in further multi-disciplinary projects to enhance your collaborative working experience. In addition to modules in property, urban regeneration and conservation, you'll demonstrate the knowledge you've gained by completing a research-based dissertation.<br><br>You'll graduate with diverse and rewarding careers opportunities ahead of you. Whilst there is demand for qualified building surveying professionals in the UK, plenty of opportunities exist throughout the world. <br><br>As a building surveying graduate, you'll be equipped for entry level roles in a broad range of built environment activities, including the design of new buildings, the specification and supervision of construction work, building refurbishments alterations and extensions, acquisition and condition surveying, and building defect diagnostics consultancy.<br><br>Salford's building surveying alumni have progressed to work with regional and national organisations, including: B&Q, Darwen Borough Council, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Gleeds Construction Consultants, Manchester City Council, Mansell Construction Services, National Grid, Network Rail, Property Tectonics Ltd, and STMC Building Control Ltd.
