Based on your school achievement (secondary school study)

60 credits at NCEA Level 2; including 14 credits in mathematics and 10 literacy credits at NCEA Level 2;

Or a recognised equivalent.

Based on study completed after school (tertiary study)

Completed a relevant course at NZQF Level 3;

Or a recognised equivalent.

Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) minimum score of 6.0 across all bands; or

TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)
TOEFL Paper-based Test (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
Pearson Test of English (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42

Architectural technicians use their construction and drawing knowledge to make building designs become a reality. They produce drawings and documents that enable pricing, consenting and construction of domestic and commercial building projects. They also create architectural models and specifications and may be involved in administering construction contracts. Students in this programme will learn to prepare fully detailed drawings and specifications for the construction of buildings, both manually and using CAD packages. Students will be equipped to work as an architectural technician in small-to-medium-scale building projects. After an additional period of suitable experience, students will be able to work on larger and more complex building projects.
