You must have a bachelors degree from an accredited institution in the United States or the equivalent of a four-year degree at an international university that is evaluated by an approved agency Most four-year degrees from accredited non-US institutions are recognized as equivalent but three-year bachelors degree programs from universities in India and some other Asian countries are not.
If you have a non-equivalent three-year degree you will need to complete an additional year of undergraduate study usually 18 to 24 credits at the 300-400 advanced undergraduate level You can complete this work at your home institution at URI or at another accredited institution in the United States.
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in the undergraduate career that can be confirmed with official transcripts from the institution.
Personal statement you should prepare your statement in a word processing program and then copy and paste your statement directly into the space provided. Formatting features such as bold and italics are not supported. Tell us your professional goals, where you want to be when you complete the MESM program, what your passions are, what attracts you to the program, and why you are an exciting candidate for MESM.
Letters of Recommendation two letters are required. Enter the names, e-mail addresses and date of your request for each referee. The referees will receive instructions for uploading their letters to the online system. Referees will receive this message from the application system immediately after you save your application with their names and e-mails entered. We recommend you notify your recommenders beforehand because the messages sometimes go to SPAM or Trash folders if security settings are high.
Signature type your name and the submission date to verify your application.
Transcripts one copy of an unofficial transcript from your undergraduate institution(s). Note: Should you be accepted and matriculate into the MESM program, you will need to send an official copy of your undergraduate transcripts to the URI Graduate School. Unofficial transcripts are ok to upload to the GradCAS application system.

TOEFL IBT -
An overall score of 80 or above 82 for teaching assistantship consideration AND
Minimum scores in the following areas -
Reading 19
Writing 18
Listening 17
Speaking 18 the suggested minimum speaking score for a teaching assistantship is 20.
If you are below the minimum in one area by two points or in two areas by one point but have an overall score of 80 or above the Dean will make a determination if you can be considered.
IELTS -
International English Language Testing System IELTS All scores must be sent directly to URI Required minimum score of 6.5 AND minimum scores in the following areas -
Reading 6.5
Writing 6.5
Listening 6.5
Speaking 6.5. The suggested minimum speaking score for a teaching assistantship is 7.
The minimum score on the Paper-based TOEFL is 550.
Pearson Test of English - Required minimum scores are Reading 53 Writing 59 Listening 47 and Speaking 47 - 62 for international teaching assistants.

The Environmental Planning and Design (EPD) specialization examines the spatial management of human development activities within diverse natural resource systems. This track relies on the use of multidisciplinary approaches to the management and preservation of natural environments, as well as participation in the design of built environments.<br><br>Students in the EPD track receive advanced instruction, training, and experiential learning with faculty whose academic backgrounds are in environmental planning, landscape architecture, geography, as well as in various natural and social sciences. This track provides students with the ability to solve a wide range of complex environmental problems by developing specific skills in environmental planning, design, and the natural sciences. Students can also acquire complementary skillsets from affiliated social sciences such as political science, public administration, psychology, environmental and natural resource economics, and marine affairs.
