国际学生入学条件
A master's degree in geology, chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related fields usually is required. In some cases, highly qualified students with bachelor's degrees in these fields may be accepted directly into the doctoral program.
Minimum BS in any Science/Engineering Program with an environmental emphasis. There is a strict university requirement of a minimum GPA of 3.0 for entry into any graduate degree program. However, the department looks for a minimum GPA above 3.4 for entry into the PhD program.
University requires the TOEFL exam for an applicant from any non-English speaking country. There are three types of this exam and the minimum scores vary depending on which exam you take. The scores are as follows:
1. Computer: 213 minimum
2. Paper: 550 minimum
3. Internet: 94-101
The minimum acceptable IELTS (English proficiency) score is 6.5.

The Environmental Sciences Program at Rutgers-Newark provides students with advanced knowledge of the physical, chemical and biological processes controlling soil, air, and water quality. The program is offered to full-time and part-time students in collaboration with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NJIT. The 3 learning goals are the following: obtain advanced knowledge in environmental science, engage in and conduct original, publishable research, prepare for a professional career requiring high level knowledge of environmental processes. The Ph.D. program trains broadly educated Earth scientists for careers in academia, research, government, and industry. Students move swiftly from receiving knowledge to creating it. All the facilities and equipment necessary for modern studies in the Earth sciences are available for the use of students in the department whose research is conducted at one of the two affiliated institutions.<br>Ph.D.: 60 credits
