The UCSB Geography Department graduate program offers a Master of Arts (MA), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). You can find basic information about academic programs on the UCSB web site and in the UCSB catalog. The Graduate Program Information for prospective students is a multi-page document that summarizes the basics a grad student needs to know, including application procedures, descriptions of the Master's and Ph.D. programs, how financial support works, and a listing of jobs recent graduates obtained. UCSB Geography's graduate program is intended to train professionals in geographic science and technology, for careers in academia, industry, business, government, and elsewhere. We recruit and attempt to retain top students of all ethnicities and genders by identifying them, matching them with appropriate mentors, providing them with funding to study at UCSB, and inviting and partially funding them to visit the campus and the department. When appropriate, we take advantage of fellowship opportunities tailored to women or underrepresented minorities.
