Geographers engaged in the study of Food and Agriculture at Indiana University focus on agricultural decision-making, agricultural and food policy, consumer choice and taste, food security, food systems governance, and foodways. Combining both qualitative and quantitative approaches, the fundamental goal of our department's Food and Agriculture program is to better understand how humans produce and consume food, how the global food system functions, and how the global food system can be made more sustainable and just. Our students in this concentration join local, regional, and national private sector, non-governmental and government organizations upon graduation. Others go on to graduate work. In addition to coursework, a key component of the program is close interaction of students with faculty members in research and readings courses in their areas of interest.
