Geographers employ a number of different techniques for collecting, studying, and analyzing spatial data. These techniques include both quantitative and qualitative approaches, while also stressing important computer-centered technologies. Many students trained in these techniques go on to work in a number of different public and private industries, from planning departments to environmental assessment agencies to non-profit community based organizations.<br>Geography focuses on the spatial organization of human and physical landscapes, the interactions between human society and the physical environment, as well as on the meanings that people bring to their place in the world. Geography sits at the nexus of the social and physical sciences, drawing from a range of theoretical and methodological approaches for understanding the world around us.
