the normal qualification for entry will be an honors B.A. or B.Sc. degree in Geography or an honors degree in a cognate discipline with substantial course content relevant to geography or a degree which the department deems to be equivalent (to include at minimum a cumulative grade point average of at least B). Saint Marys offers a two-year thesis-based program leading to a Master of Arts in Geography. Geography is a holistic field grounded in the spatial processes and structures that govern our world. Saint Marys offers broad expertise across the human and physical realms of the discipline. We accept students from Geography as well as cognate disciplines such as Environmental Studies Environmental Science History Planning and Economics. Our faculty members investigate a broad range of research topics includingClandestine migration in West AfricaGlobalization of the Canadian education industryHeritage tourism and dark tourism in Nova Scotia and beyondExtracting morphometric information from digital elevation modelsCoastal climate change vulnerability assessment and adaptationDowntown revitalization through housing and retailingThe program is designed to be completed in two years of full-time study with a part-time study option available.
