The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences offers students the opportunity to work with open-ended, complex, and highly interconnected problems, giving them the skills to become leaders and entrepreneurs in the real world, whether that is in academia, running a business, or working with and for societal issues. Field and laboratory opportunities abound. Many students also present their own research projects at national and international professional conferences.Upon completing the BS degree with a major in Earth Science, students will be able to: Understand the structure and composition of the earth and planets, their evolution, and changing the Earth today. Learn basic field geological measurements and recording. Learn earth observations and recording outdoor scientific information.
