Animals play a significant role in the lives of people and communities, including for food and fibre production and pets for companionship. The Animal Health, Disease and Welfare major integrates the areas of animal biology and ecology with that in comparative and veterinary science. You will learn about the science that underpins the biology of animal health and disease including physiology, molecular biology, infectious agents and animal welfare. An emphasis of this major is the prevention, treatment and understanding of disease in production and companion animals and wildlife. This major will prepare you for a career in animal health sciences including areas of infectious disease control, disease surveillance, animal welfare and animal production industries.<br>The Bachelor of Science and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics is a double degree that will provide you with solid knowledge of nutritional sciences and the expertise to pursue a career as a dietitian in a range of professional settings. You will complete degree core and junior elective units, an embedded Nutrition and Dietetics program including a major in Nutrition Science, and a minor or second major from either the disciplinary pool or the shared pool. Additionally, you will complete any elective units as needed to make up the required credit points for the course.<br><br>After successful completion of the Bachelor of Science (minimum credit average), you will progress to the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics wherein you will complete a prescribed course of study comprising core units in nutrition and dietetics, a training placement and a research project.
