Adherence to our Application and Admission Regulations either upon high school graduation following a period of employment subsequent to graduation or by transfer from another postsecondary institution

If you are currently in high school -
- When you apply early acceptance.
- Interim High School transcript or predicted IB grades Documents can be official or unofficial.
- Official English proficiency test result if required See general admission criteria section above.
- Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
If you have completed high school and not attended a postsecondary institution
- Final high school transcript sent by post or courier directly from the school to the Office of the Registrar or final IB results sent electronically directly from the IB Organization.

- You are required to apply as a transfer student In addition to the information provided above please refer to our university or college transfer applicant requirements.
Minimum score of 24 on the IB Diploma with completion of the required subject areas or completion of another recognized High School diploma program.
The IB certificate and career programs are not acceptable for admission unless another recognized High School diploma or certificate has been awarded.
IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS Academic with at least a band 6 in reading and writing General training results are not acceptable.
For admission to winter Jan 2025 and later A minimum score of 83 on the TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition with a minimum score of 20 in reading and writing
For admission to fall Sept 2024 and earlier A minimum score of 79 on the TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition with a minimum score of 20 in reading and writing and not less than 17 in listening and speaking.
Duolingo English Test DET until spring 2025 only - Requirement A minimum overall score of 115.
Pearson Test of Academic English PTE ACADEMIC - Requirement - For admission to winter Jan 2025 and later A minimum overall score of 60.
For admission to fall Sept 2024 and earlier A minimum score of 58 in each of the reading writing listening and speaking components of the PTE is required.

The Diploma of Technology in Nautical Science is a globally recognized, cooperative program which is accredited by Transport Canada in accordance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 as amended in 2010 (Manila Convention).<br><br>This cadet program is designed to:<br><br>provide a strong theoretical and practical education in the field of nautical science,<br>prepare students for employment in marine transportation,<br>produce graduates who are capable of accepting the responsibilities and performing the duties assigned to them as ships officers,<br>prepare students for professional recognition as seafaring officers by Transport Canada and to sit for the remaining Transport Canada examinations for the Watchkeeping Mate Certificate of Competence.<br><br>Program Structure<br>As a co-operative program, the Nautical Science diploma consists of periods of study at the Marine Institute which alternate with periods at sea. The entire program consists of:<br><br>First Year consists of semester one and two followed by an eight-week technical session and,<br>a two-month sea phase following the first technical session,<br>a second or intermediate year of study consisting of semesters three and four, followed by an eight-week technical session,<br><br>Program Length: Four years<br>Practical Experience:<br>Three technical sessions and 360 sea days<br><br>Application Deadline:<br>Fall Admission: April 15. Applications received after this date will be assessed as resources and space allow.
