Undergraduate education that includes an adequate background in chemistry, mathematics, and the biological and behavioral sciences are urged to apply. Students with undergraduate concentrations in other areas of the natural sciences, computer science, or engineering also are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in laboratory research and with strong letters of recommendation. Applications must include a complete entrance form, three letters of recommendation, scores on the Graduate Record Examination General Test (GRE), and the undergraduate transcript. If your native language is not English, you are required to demonstrate your level of English proficiency by taking the TOEFL and submitting your scores.

The brain is composed of multiple networks of interconnected neurons and brain areas whose ensemble activity support both sensory and cognitive function. Computational and cognitive neuroscience aims at understanding how the structure and activity of these brain networks supports human brain function. Investigators in this field focus on understanding human sensory and cognitive functions such as vision, attention, memory, and decision-making. They use diverse toolsmagnetic resonance imaging technology, neurophysiological recordings, and behavioral measurementsin their research. They also develop models that can help to interpret results by bridging across all these measurements.
