课程简介
The Georgia State University M.A. program in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies has three interrelated areas of concentration:GlobalizationSexuality studiesSocial changeOur curriculum stands out for its emphasis on the intersections of gender and sexuality with race, nationalisms, ethnicity and transnationalism. We have a strong emphasis on queer theory and LGBTQ studies and the theory and practice of activism. One distinction of our program is that students may complete one of three different kinds of theses:Research Thesis: an originally researched topic that contributes to a new area of gender and sexuality studies scholarshipCreative Thesis: creative project in the arts, such as a play, an art exhibit or mixed-media workAction Research Thesis: an internship with a local social justice-oriented organization or other form of community andor activist engagementOur M.A. program offers innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to the study of gender, sexuality, race, class, and nation. The Institute for Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies’ cutting-edge academic program focuses on four crucial areas of study: Black Feminist Thought, Transnational WGSS, Sexualities, Queer and Trans Studies, and Social Change and Applied WGSS. The interests of our core faculty members span the globe, including the African diaspora, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and North America, with an emphasis on issues related to globalization, sexualities, and culture, as well as local and transnational articulations of feminism. The M.A. prepares students for doctoral work in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and other disciplines, as well as careers in non-profit organizations, the social service sector, the political arena, and private enterprise. Some of our students pursue work in creative fields as artists, musicians, poets, journalists, or filmmakers.
