Learning Spanish in ECU's Hispanic studies program will prepare you for a wide range of careers in health care, education, government, social work, business, and many others in the national and international arena. You will acquire communicative competence in Spanish, as well as the cultural and literary heritage pertaining to a language whose origins go back to the 8th century, and which by 2050, will be spoken by more than 30 percent of the population in the United States<br><br>Our degree programs include a Hispanic studies minor, a BA in Hispanic studies, a BS in Hispanic studies with teacher certification, a certificate in Spanish translation, a graduate certificate in Hispanic studies, and graduate courses for the MA in international studies.<br><br>We also offer professional internships that will allow you to use your knowledge of Spanish in a variety of work environments and study abroad options in countries such as Mexico, Spain, and Argentina that will round off your education and give you a significant edge over your competitors in the job market.<br><br>Many students in our program combine a major in Spanish with another ECU major, such as political science, biology, nursing, and psychology.
