Please write a brief statement describing your academic and research interests as well as your professional goals. Why does the study of women, gender, and sexuality matter to you.
Applicants must submit official transcripts for all undergraduate and any graduate work. To be eligible for admission, your transcript must show an earned bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree in progress. Certified copies of transcripts are acceptable, faxed copies of transcripts are not considered official. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts, we have them on record. Copies of transcripts or transcripts not received in a sealed envelope from the university are considered unofficial. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts. We strongly encourage electronic submission of documents. Official transcripts should show a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In exceptional cases, applicants whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 may be admitted.
For the TOEFL, a minimum score of 79 on the iBT
For the IELTS, a minimum score of 6.0 is required.

The MA in Women's Studies and Gender Studies (WSGS) program at Loyola University Chicago is designed for students interested in the intersectionality and social justice issues centered on gender, and who strive to bring positive change on those fronts. The program will offer you an interdisciplinary exploration of how knowledge is shaped by power, bridging insights gained from the humanities, social sciences, business, and law. You will be empowered to develop thoughtful, innovative solutions and to create pathways for promoting social justice. The WSGS community at Loyola is culturally and intellectually diverse, tightly knit and supportive, politically and socially engaged, and committed to open-ended critique, inquiry, and invention.<br>Upon graduating, Graduate Women's Studies and Gender Studies students will be able to: Identify major influences within key historic feminist/gender studies movements. These influences may include activists, authors and/or writings, or legislation both in and outside the US, Articulate and understand how women's and gender studies is a distinct and fundamental field of study intimately connected to other interdisciplinary academic disciplines, Evaluate, compare, and analyze gender and feminist theories and methodologies from both an intersectional and social justice lens.
