Prospective first-year students must:
• Have a 3.00 recalculated grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A=4.00) from a secondary school. Please note: GPA recalculation occurs during the admissions evaluation process and is based on grades from courses outlined in our competency requirements below.
• Have three years of high school work. Please note: If you are currently in high school, UA needs to see 9–11 grade work. If you have completed high school then UA needs to see 10–12 grade work.
• Have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
• Official high school transcript(s)

Forge a deeper understanding of how aspects of race and gender discrimination overlap, and then learn ways to dismantle the systems that keep those factors in place. Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts that works to contest historical, ongoing and pervasive oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, class, ability and citizenship. Students can opt for an emphasis in Chicana and Latina Studies, a course of study that works with the Gender and Women's Studies department's prestigious Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW). Established in 1979, SIROW develops research-action projects of importance to women in the Southwestern U.S. and the Mexico-U.S. border regions. The Gender and Women's Studies department, founded in 1975 and led by a renowned faculty, stands at the forefront of feminist research and curriculum. Demonstrate knowledge of major concepts, theories, histories, and/or methods used in the field Gender & Women¿s Studies. Chicana and Latina Studies Concentration in B.A. Major Demonstrate knowledge of major concepts, theories, histories, and/or methods in Chicana and Latina Studies as they inform the field of Gender & Women¿s Studies. Queer, Transgender, and Sexuality Studies Concentration in B.A. Major Demonstrate knowledge of major concepts, theories, histories, and/or methods in Queer, Transgender, and Sexuality Studies as they inform the field of Gender & Women¿s Studies. Think critically as demonstrated by the use of synthetic, analytic, or computational/quantitative reasoning in written, spoken or visual form. Understand how differences among humans, or between humans and non-humans, have been constructed and organized and why those difference are important.
