Students apply to this program in spring of their junior year, interested students should contact the WGS graduate director. Students in this program take twelve graduate credit hours in their senior year, these graduate courses apply toward both undergraduate and graduate Women's and Gender Studies requirements. The Department of Women's and Gender Studies at DePaul University offers an undergraduate major and minor as well as a five-year BA/MA program. The WGS curriculum provides students with a strong educational foundation for lifelong learning through both traditional and nontraditional means, it informs students about historical and contemporary social justice issues and concerns, and it provides individuals with the critical thinking skills needed to examine cultural circumstances that generally remain unquestioned. The Women's and Gender Studies program focuses on examining women's and men's identities and experiences in relation to gender, race, class and culture, addresses issues of power and resistance, and connects feminist theories and research to public policy and social justice.
