Specific criteria for admission include:
Applicants must have received a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent by the time they enter the program at Warner, with the exception of those applying to early admission programs.
Applicants must have the ability to do graduate work at the University of Rochester, as demonstrated by their past academic performance and their academic writing skills.
Applicants must demonstrate sufficient communication and interpersonal skills to perform well in their chosen career in education.
Applicants career goals, professional interests, academic background, attitudes, and philosophy must be consistent with the programs offered by the Warner School and its stated mission.
Additional criteria may be established for individual programs.
Please scan and upload your transcripts to the online application. Official transcripts of all previous post-secondary education are required if admitted to the program.
Letters of recommendation from members of the academic community and/or workplace professionals who know your qualifications for graduate study are required. Preferably, at least one recommendation should be from a former professor. At least two letters are required for master's applicants and three for doctoral applicants. Letters of recommendation are managed on the online application.
A statement of purpose describing your academic or professional background and your interest in pursuing graduate study at Warner is required. The statement of purpose is generally between two and four pages, double-spaced. You can upload a file or cut and paste into the online application.
Current resume or curriculum vitae should be uploaded to the online application.
A writing sample. Upload your writing sample with your application. This must be written in English and may be a term paper from your earlier academic work, or a five- or six-page commentary on an issue in education that you have written for this purpose only. The paper should support an academic argument, reference citations, and use a research style sheet.
TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for international applicants who are non-native English speakers

The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program at the Warner School prepares students to be leaders in the clinical practice of behavior analysis. Our comprehensive program prepares students for the national board certification examination in behavior analysis as well as the New York State licensure requirements. Our program is the only ABA master's degree program in the country that is offered in collaboration with a major medical center. <br>This program offers a fully supported practicum in which students receive mentorship from board-certified and New York State-licensed behavior analysts. Students are carefully matched to practicum sites that are available within the University of Rochester Medical Center behavioral treatment clinics and in community-based settings such as schools and early intervention programs. Additionally, research opportunities are available to students who are interested in learning how to conduct research or want to better prepare themselves for doctoral studies. <br>Graduates of our program have the potential to become board-certified shortly after completing their degree. Join a network of successful alumni who are employed throughout New York State, nationally and internationally.<br>Gain hands-on experience through a minimum of one semester of practicum. Our concentrated supervised fieldwork meets the requirements set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. As behavior analysts-in-training, youll have the opportunity to complete your practicum in a wide variety of settings, such as school districts, non-profit agencies and the University of Rochester Medical Center behavioral clinics.<br>Successful completion of a bachelor's degree. Historically, most behavior analysis students have had an undergraduate degree in education, psychology, human development, sociology or a related field. However, anyone interested in behavior analysis, helping people or addressing issues of social importance is welcome to apply. Before initiating the application process, program faculty are available to meet with students who believe that behavior analysis may meet their career goals.<br>Both of the following programs include all the coursework and at least 225 hours of university-supervised ABA practicum experience, the additional practicum hours needed to sit for the state licensing and BCBA exams can be accrued by students independently, or by taking our credit-bearing practicum multiple times.
