本课程的目的是为学生提供对世界各种宗教传统的广泛而全面的理解，并增强学生的客观分析和批判性思维的能力。从我们系获得学士学位的个人可以进入专业世界或接受高等教育，并具有丰富的宗教文化知识，并对其多种多样的表达方式更加欣赏。宗教的学术研究向学生讲授有关从外部角度看各种宗教信仰，而不是如何作为内幕人士实践特定的宗教。这种方法要求学生对不同的文化和宗教信仰持中立和开放的态度。宗教的学术研究也是自我探索，提高自我意识和自我理解的旅程，因为这是讨论的激发思考和反思的学科的本质。该课程并不偏爱一种宗教，因此希望学生意识
The objective of this course of study is to provide students with an expansive and comprehensive understanding of the variety of the world's religious traditions, as well as to sharpen students' mental faculties of objective analysis and critical thinking. Individuals who earn a bachelor's degree from our department are able to proceed into the professional world or still higher education with a vast knowledge of religious culture and a greater appreciation for its diverse array of expressions.The academic study of religion teaches students about a variety of religious beliefs from an outside perspective, rather than how to practice a specific religion as an insider. This methodology demands that students be neutral and open minded with respect to different cultures and their religious beliefs. The academic study of religion is also a journey of self-exploration and increasing self-awareness and self-understanding, as it is the nature of the subjects discussed to stimulate contemplation and reflection. The curriculum does not favor one religion over any other, and students are expected to be aware of how their own personal beliefs affect their understanding of other cultures.
