Earn your clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) degree and fulfill the educational requirements to become a licensed mental health counselor. This master's program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Here, you learn how to work with a variety of clients in substance abuse treatment centers, community mental health agencies and educational settings. And you'll learn this from experts who have worked in the field as clinical mental health counselors. As a student or counselor-in-training, you'll gain experience with mental health agencies through networking and internships. Through these agencies, you'll work with individuals, groups and families in therapy, and qualify to work in the wide-ranging field of counseling. After graduating, register with the state of Florida to complete two years of supervised clinical hours and pass the national exam to become a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) or nationally certified counselor (NCC)
