Two letters of recommendation: you will need to provide two letters of recommendation from professional or academic colleagues as well as the name and contact information for an additional reference. References from professors, research experiences, or internship supervisors are preferred.
Resume or curriculum vitae (most recent): please include your educational history, research experience, professional presentations to regional, state, or national conferences, employment or volunteer activities, and any honors and awards.
Transcript/credential evaluation from your highest earned degree
To be eligible for admission in the Ball State Graduate School, you must have a bachelor's degree or higher from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association. Some doctoral and specialist degree programs (but not all) require a master's degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.
Earned a minimum of a 2.75 GPA from your undergraduate degree-granting institution
Applicants whose GPA falls below the 2.75 minimum may also be eligible for probationary admission
Proof of English proficiency: Ball State University recommends all graduate applicants to demonstrate English proficiency unless eligible for a waiver.

Ball State's master of arts in social psychology and clinical mental health counseling combines the academic challenge of social psychology with the hands-on, practical application of clinical mental health counseling. This program is an excellent choice if you enjoy the process of learning and applying your skills to help people. Our program integrates the group and societal orientation of social psychology with the applied individual focus of counseling. In addition to the topics covered in the social psychology program, you will learn about current trends in mental health counseling, roles and professional identity of mental health counselors, structures and operations of professional organizations, and ethical and legal considerations related to counseling.
