Applicants to the Program are expected to have a baccalaureate degree and at least 15 hours of psychology.
- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.7.
English Language Requirements:
- (TOEFL): A score of 500 PBT/61 IBT is required for admission with stipulations or 550 PBT/79 IBT for regular admission.
- (IELTS): A score of 5.5 required for admission with stipulations or 6.5 for regular admission.
- Pearson Test of English: A score of 44 for admission with stipulations or 53 for regular admission.
- Michigan English Test (MET): A score of 52 is required for regular admission.
- International Baccalaureate (IB): A grade of 5 in English at the Higher Level is required for regular admission.
- Advanced Placement (AP): A score of 4 on the English Language or English Literature Exams.
- General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GSE): a score of A or B on the English Language Exam.
- SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 520
- ACT English score of 21.
- ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112 for regular admission.
- ELI (CMU English Language Program): Successful completion of the required CMU ELI courses with confirmation by the ELI Office.

The primary objective of the graduate programs in Experimental Psychology at CMU is to produce graduates who can demonstrate excellence in the broad arena of methodologies and general content so as to be prepared for doctoral training or research positions in the public or private sector.<br>The Experimental Program has the largest faculty membership of any graduate program within the Department of Psychology. The membership represents the complete spectrum of psychology including the areas of behavioral, physiological, developmental, social, clinical, cognitive, measurement, and statistics.<br>With an applied experimental psychology degree from CMU, you'll take a scientific approach toward questions in psychology and put the answers to use in a wide range of businesses, research centers, universities and government agencies. Experimental psychologists use scientific methods to collect data and perform and publish research. Experimental psychologists have a passion for solving problems and exploring theoretical questions.<br>As a student here, you can develop research expertise in applied cognitive psychology, social psychology, personality, and behavioral neuroscience.<br>You’ll determine your field of study and connect with our faculty who will help you develop strong research skills. You’ll gain mentors and lifelong colleagues. You'll study a wide range of behavioral topics among humans and animals, including sensation, perception, attention, memory, cognition, emotion and more.<br>Our students publish research, take on internships and leave the program ready to make real and lasting changes for the people and places for which they work.
