A Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree: The applicant must provide an official transcript showing an earned bachelor’s or master’s degree, depending on program requirements. In cases, where a program’s accrediting body allows alternate admissions standards, exceptions may be made. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM, you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. This office has access to your transcript. The degree must have been awarded by an accredited college or university. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents.

GPA: The applicant must have earned an acceptable grade point average, typically a minimum of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0, but departments may make exceptions for students whose overall GPA does not adequately reflect their ability to succeed in their chosen field.

International students must provide evidence of English Language Proficiency.

English proficiency test scores accepted by the University:

Duolingo English Test-110 or higher on the overall score.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 550 or higher on the paper version, 80 or higher on the internet-based test
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)- 6.5 or higher
PTE (Pearson Test of English) - 59 or higher

Both the face-to-face and online Ph.D. program Educational Psychology and Research (EDPR) grounds potential graduates in foundational educational and psychological theories related to human development and learning and cognitionmotivation, as well as methodological skills in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.<br><br>The PhD program in Educational Psychology and Research will prepare you for careers in academic and professional communities with content expertise and research experience within your area of study interest. Our students are highly competitive applicants for jobs in education, psychology, health professions, and other related fields, holding positions as researchers, consultants, administrators, and faculty members in higher education institutions.<br><br>Prior to submitting your application, students should research the various EDPR faculty members and list in order of preference whom the student would like to be paired with for their initial advisor. Upon admission into the online program, you will have the opportunity to work with dynamic and respected faculty members; all of whom are recognized experts in their respective areas. These faculty are dedicated to working with students under a “research apprenticeship” model that will help you pursue your interests, no matter where you plan to take your career. Among other activities, working with our faculty will enable you to tap into your own research interests in your concentration area, striving to offer research development opportunities, and in some cases to unlock grants and other funding sources to support your research.
