The Department of World Languages & Literatures at San Jos State University is a comprehensive, full-service foreign language department. We offer challenging and rich programs of study in a variety of languages.<br><br>Under the guidance of a dedicated faculty, students may earn minors in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, baccalaureate degrees in Chinese, French, Japanese and Spanish, and Master of Arts degrees in Spanish. <br><br>The Department prepares language educators with a Teaching Associate (T.A.) program and a secondary teaching credential program, awarded in conjunction with the College of Education.<br><br>This major is designed for students interested in teaching world languages in high school or middle school. The following course work satisfies San Jos State University's requirements for a BA in French, offered by the Department of World Languages and Literatures. A minimum grade point average (GPA) criteria may be required for verification of subject matter competency. Completion of the program will not guarantee admission to the credential program. Like all other applicants, students must meet credential program standards and undergo screening for admission.
