课程简介
Offered jointly by the Department of German, Russian and East European Studies and the Program in European Studies, this major emphasizes the language, literature, and culture of German-speaking regions within the context of modern Europe. Students develop German language skills, learn critical thinking skills and cross-cultural perspectives, and engage in innovative collaborations that recognize the critical importance of German-speaking cultureswithin Europe, and throughout the globe.

Courses emphasize the study of German literature and culture within a European context, thereby illuminating not only a European and German perspective on global issues, but also an outside view on European and German identity. Students in this program appreciate the ability to work across disciplines, including history, philosophy, political science, music, and the visual arts. To ensure intellectual development, classes are small and based on exchange and interaction. A variety of eventslectures, roundtable conversations, lunch talks, and movie nightsprovide opportunities to further engage with the European and German cultures. Additionally, the program offers several study abroad programs.
