Learning another language fulfills the primary purpose of a university education: to prepare citizens to reason, analyse, problem-solve and communicate in a world of cultural differences. Memorial's Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures recognizes that interest in pursuing advanced studies in German may be stimulated by a wide variety of personal and professional experiences. It welcomes, therefore, students with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of goals.<br><br>The cultural and linguistic knowledge acquired in German studies at the graduate level prepares students for employment, further study, or both. Those students interested in careers in teaching are encouraged to participate in Memorial's Teaching Skills Enhancement Program.<br><br>MA The MA program involves courses and a thesis, and can normally be completed in two years of full-time study.<br><br>Duration (Full-time students):<br>MA, MPhil: 2 years<br>Campus: St. John's<br>Application Deadline: January 31 for Fall admission
