Candidate narrative statement describing the intentions and purposes for becoming a K-12, middle, or high school teacher in a high-need school district
Completion of the Missouri Content Area Assessments (MoCA). This assessment must be passed by the end of the first semester of the program.
Interview with faculty
IELTS - 6.0 with 5.5 minimum in all bands
TOEFL iBT - 79
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the availability of online testing, we will accept the TOEFL at-home test as proof of English proficiency.

Our cohort-based graduate program is designed for those already holding a bachelor's degree who are interested in becoming certified as a teacher. We prepare students for initial teacher certification within the Teacher Education Professional Program, fulfilling all requirements for Missouri teacher certification for Middle School (grades 5-9), High School (grades 9-12), or K-12 Education. The Master of Arts in Teaching is a developmentally-sequenced program designed to help students gain foundational knowledge, understand their discipline and classroom practices, plan instruction and assessment, and demonstrate effective teaching. All students complete 41 credit hours that are common across certification areas. Students also complete an additional 3-6 credit hours (depending on their intended certification area) that are specific to their grade level and content.
