A Philosophy degree consists of interdisciplinary topics like the history of philosophy, logic, philosophy of science, aesthetics and more. The coursework will introduce you to basic philosophical problems, ancient and early modern philosophy, logic and ethics and approaches to knowledge and reality. In this program, you'll develop critical thinking, a close eye when reading, clear writing, and logical analysis-skills that are highly valued by any employer. Students whose grade point average in the philosophy major before the beginning of their final year at UTSA is 3.25 or above, and whose overall grade point average is 3.0, may earn Honors in Philosophy. To do so, a student must complete a substantial paper approved by the Department Scholarship and Honors Committee and maintain a 3.25 grade point average in the major. The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Classical Studies and Humanities is an interdisciplinary degree program that provides students with a foundation in the history of humanistic disciplines and also affords the opportunity to focus on particular periods and intellectual trends.
