课程简介
哲学用于阐明和解释重要概念,例如真理
Philosophy is used to clarify and interpret important concepts such as truth, God, mortality, beauty, knowledge and reality. These concepts play an important role in our self-understanding and our interpretation of the world. When you study philosophy, youll learn about the kind of questions that philosophers ask, and about the many different areas that interest them. These include the theory of knowledge (how we know, and what we know), metaphysics (which considers the understanding of the fundamental nature of things such as the self, the mind, time and space) ethics (the philosophical study of morality), and many others. Examination of these questions has led philosophers into complicated theories because reason needs them. Studying these questions and theories will help you organize your thinking, improve your communication skills, and teach you to use argument and valid reasoning to arrive at any conclusion.

Completion of any Level I program and a Grade Point Average of at least 5.0, and successful completion of one of MATH 1A03, 1LS3 or 1X03, and one of MATH 1AA3, 1LT3, or 1XX3 with a grade of at least C plus (see Note 4 below), and a grade of at least C in three units of Level I Philosophy or, if no such course was taken, in three units of work acceptable to the Department of Philosophy.
